DID YOU CUM?

'Did You Cum?' (2022/23) is my latest project. It centres around female masturbation, sex, desire, pleasure and everything in between. In previous work, I explored what it means to be a woman artist in the art industry. I intend to follow the same feminist themes, but focusing more closely on the role of women's bodies in art, and what's deemed as acceptable and unacceptable. There is a very fine line in society by what people think is too crude, too explicit, too much - and a woman is usually the main target. I am exploring how people respond to women and their sexuality; why is female masturbation embarrassing and shocking, whereas male masturbation is widely normalised? Hopefully these pieces will create a conversation around why the topic is so taboo, and hopefully destigmatise the very healthy and fun act.
